Template Best Practices
Use Merge Fields
Include personalization with merge fields:
- {{contact.first_name}} — Their name
- {{appointment.start_time}} — Appointment details
- {{location.name}} — Your business name
Keep It Short
SMS messages should be concise. Aim for under 160 characters when possible.
Name Templates Clearly
Use descriptive names so you can find them quickly:
- "Appointment Reminder - 24hr"
- "Quote Follow-up"
- "Review Request"
Common Templates to Create
- Appointment confirmations
- Appointment reminders
- Follow-up after no-show
- Quote/proposal sent
- Payment received
- Review requests — get a direct Google review link and wrap it in a trigger link to track who clicks and follow up with those who don't
